It’s no secret that I’m a bit of an audiophile. Last year, I had the opportunity to visit the Harman Experience Center and actually see the process and science behind Harman Kardon and JBL products – and I just completely geeked out over all the technology that I saw! Whether you’re listening to music in your car, with your headphones, jamming out with speakers, or even in your home theater – the perfect audio can make a normal activity an immersive and amazing one. I’ve always had an appreciation for the quality of Harman Kardon and JBL products for that very reason. The engineers that create the products for these brands are true audio geeks. They’re passionate about the experience that sound creates – and let’s face it when you’re going to be listening to your favorite song or watching your favorite movie – don’t you want the audio delivered to you to be from products that are made by audiophiles – People that truely geek out over a sound experience?
On the note of a sound experience – I recently attended JBL Fest 2018. It was the second year that JBL through the music festival – which included not only amazing concerts by artists like Ellie Goulding, Tinie Tempah, Pitbull and DJ Tigerlily – but it also included a ride and drive event and series of educational sessions about “How to Listen” (which provided information on how different elements of sound come together in JBL speakers to provide the perfect audio experience) as well upcoming JBL products for the holiday season.
It was 3 days of exciting and immersive experiences in Las Vegas with live music performances, drives, and entertainment – all showcasing the lifestyle around JBL and the amazing products that they offer. Here’s a glimpse into my experience….
We stayed at the SLS Las Vegas which is down towards the north end of the strip – and in case you’re wondering – I did turn $5 into $20 – which I then promptly took to another hotel on the strip and lost all of.
Wednesday night, we started the Fest in style with an experience at OMNIA Nightclub. The night celebrated JBL’s partnership with the GRAMMY Awards and paid homage to music legend Quincy Jones. The evening was capped off with a live performance by Rachel Platten – and paired with amazing food and custom cocktails.
My new friends and I were in heaven.
On Thursday, we had a number of educational sessions that we attended where we were able to geek out over the technology behind the JBL products – and also see what the brand had in-store for their upcoming product lines. Here’s a sneak peak…
Thursday afternoon, we embarked on a Ride and Drive (In a 2018 Toyota Camry XSE which of course had JBL speakers) out to Red Rock Canyon where I rode with an Italian journalist and a Japanese journalist. We all struggled to understand each other – but we had a great time (and we all teamed up to take some pretty cool photos for each other)! It’s always interesting to me how music can bring people together – regardless of gender, nationality, race, religion – music is universal and creates harmony. I may have not been able to clearly understand everything my drive-mates said – but we were all singing the same songs.
Thursday evening, we headed over to the Brooklyn Bowl for JBL Live! with Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah. It was an intimate experience for guests of JBL – who had amazing seats for the evening!
On Friday, I managed to get a few hours of work in before heading to the SLS Foxtail Pool – which came to life that evening with performances by Pitbull and DJ Tigerlily – and there was even a special guest appearance by Priyanka Chopra. It was the perfect way to top off the festival before the evening came to a close.
I had an amazing time at the event, made some pretty rad new friends from all across the world – and geeked out with them over our mutual love of music and technology. And JBL even sent me home with some goodies so that I can close my eyes and just listen to the music – pretending I’m back in Vegas. 🙂
A huge thank you to JBL for an amazing experience!
