brief newspaper quote.

I was quoted in the Arizona Republic’s Sunday paper. I had no idea I’d be quoted in there with Chris Carter (for those of you who don’t know who that is, he is the creator of X-Files).

Very brief quote, but still cool none-the-less!

happy birthday roxy.

She turns 7 today. :)

cola.

I went a whole day without a drop. You guys should be proud…. or amazed…. or both. :)

fall fashion and a hilton.

Saturday was the unveiling of the fall collections from all the designers. Ellie had myself and Nic down on the list to get in. We walked around for awhile looking at the new collections, met up with Ellie, met Nicky Hilton, walked around some more, then hit up cocktail hour, and the lastly the fashion show. I have video of 4 of Ellie’s pieces walking, and then the end of Nicky’s clothes walking.

I know everyone always hates on the Hiltons, but Nicky Hilton was a total sweetheart. We’re the same height. She was wearing higher heels so that makes her look a bit taller in the pic, but anyway, I expected her to be much taller for some reason.

I’ll upload videos if you guys want to see the walks. It was my first experience with a fashion show with the catwalk. Super cool. They walked 203 looks between all the designers, Ellie said that even at a Marc Jacobs they only walk about 50, so this was quite possibly the longest fashion show in the history of the world. But it was a blast none the less. Nic and I had a lot of fun critiquing all the different styles and the models.

After the show, we went for drinks with Ellie and her friend Natalie, and hung out just chatting for a hour. It was a great day. I can’t wait till the fall show.

Have I mentioned how much I love working for Ellie? Because I so do. :)

(I cropped Nic’s finger out of this one, but that’s why the lighting looks all funny)

So I did some work today with Alexandra. It was my first time trying this technique with a person in the picture, so that’s raised some interesting topics for me to research now…. how to achieve the best balance when using the external flash, how to shoot directly into the sun and still capture color… those sort of things :)

I’ve uploaded my favorites to flickr, you can check them out the set here.

photo awesomeness.

Added a new flicker gallery here.

Let me know what you all think! I’ve only done 13 out of 467. I definitely won’t do all of them, but I will probably still edit a couple more. I still haven’t mastered this, but I feel like I’ve come a long way since I started learning about this technique. I want to go do some shoots soon… I was a bit too spoiled over the last few days taking pictures. :)

a taste of what’s to come.

So here’s a taste from the jpeg collection of images I took at St. Simon’s. Most of all the images I took were in raw format which my mac’s os won’t support, so I can’t play with those until I get back to the desktop. It should be fun to edit those :)

This is just 1 of 698. :) And yes it’s done with 3 separate images each. The sky was really cloudy today so I didn’t have a very large dynamic range, but I’m happy with my results. I can’t wait to play with the others! :)

tornado warning

So the tornados followed me to Statesboro.

What do art students do when they’re under a tornado warning? Simple. They grab their cameras and tripods and run outside and get shots like this:

The lightning was amazing… I have tons more I will upload soon. We were totally safe about everything so no need to give me grief about this.:)

cutest movie ever.

The final trailer is out for Wall.E…. no more of the teaser stuff. We finally got the real deal. I’m totally going to see this on opening night… or if they have a midnight showing on the night before. It’s going to be ADORABLE. :) And the animation doesn’t look too shabby either.

Wall.E Trailer

(make sure you watch the trailer and not the teasers!)

a wedding… and a career change?

My good friends Sara and Joe got engaged. :) I went with Sara to this bridal convention thing today to look around at things. They had booths there for pretty much everything you would need at a wedding. I considered a career change when we arrived at the photography booth with a 10 grand package, but have since decided that the world is simply not ready for my mad photo skillz to be available yet…

Anywho, I was honored to go and experience that with Sara. :) Thanks for asking Sara! :)

Moving on, I’ve very nearly mastered HDR. Okay, maybe not quite. But check this out.
