Ah. Santa Monica. My home away from home. How I miss it. California rocks, I don’t care what anyone says.

godchild

It’s official. As of this July, I will have a godson. :) I’m incredibly stoked. Amanda called me around 4:30 to tell me the gender. I still can’t believe she’s having a kid. I still remember what huge dorks we were at the Backstreet Boys concert back in 8th grade. :) The picture above is from our junior year.

easily distracted

So I’m working on these World Environment Day Posters for typography class… and I’m looking through my sketches that I have scanned so I can jazz them up with organic goodness, which ends up with me playing with other pics in photoshop…. remember that post with my train of thought that ended in monkey monkey underpants? This is much like that… a digital photo editing tangent if you will. Anywho, I thought I’d post a couple of the pieces.

stone mountain trip

So I can finally say I’ve climbed Stone Mountain. I went with Heidi and Andy yesterday, and we met up with Joe, Sara, and Sara’s mom at the top. It was an awesome day. The weather was amazing… the clouds and the sun were perfect for photo taking… I want to go back again and stay up there longer… and wander around the woods of the park more. Man… It was such an awesome day. I took 346 photos, and 152 of them actually came out perfectly. The ones with Andy and I in them are courtesy of Heidi’s mad photo skillz. I’ve uploaded 58 to facebook, and all 152 are up on my flickr account which is linked to your right. :)

new movie screening

So through my tears with the OC, cool new news emerges. By the way, thanks to Andy and Heidi for consoling me last night. haha :)
I get to interview cast members from Instant Star and Beyond the Break, two shows that air on The N Network. And I will be getting another screener for a movie called Caffeine staring Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Breckin Meyer (Road Trip), Marsha Thomason (Haunted Mansion), Katherine Heigl (Grey’s Anatomy) and Mike Vogel (Poseidon, Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

You can view the trailer here. It looks really cute.

Who’s in? :) I should make a facebook invite for it or something. I still need quotes from Joe and Sara about The Host. :) This is your reminder. :)

farewell to the oc

So here’s the day I hoped would never come.

Tonight at 9pm marks the series finale of The OC. The show that really did it all for me… I was 19 when it started and I started my site for the show, 20 when Warner Brothers hired me, still 20 when I worked hand in hand with the producers to create content for the 2 hour specials that FOX aired, 21 when People Magazine interviewed me and my spread appeared in The OC Insider Magazine, 22 when my site was published in various books and newspapers, still 22 when I worked with top names in fashion to promote their lines featured on the series, 23 when USA Today featured my quotes, and now here I am, still 23 at the end of it all. That doesn’t even really cover it… It feels like an era is ending.

I know that sounds silly, but when you’re involved with a show to the degree that I have been involved with The OC, and when it opens up as many doors for you as it did for me, it definitely feels like an era is ending… So now I’m moving on now to other tv shows, movie promotions, and music promotions with various PR firms and of course Warner Brothers still.

So here’s to all the nights of entertainment and to my resume which will forever rock all because of this series. I have no doubt in my mind that I will be crying my eyes out tonight at the finale, so if you wish to join me, please do so. :)

Here’s to you, OC.

new bands

I love my job. I’ve been going through tons of bands recently to feature on FanBolt during the relaunch. I’ve handpicked some of the best unknown and even well known bands. All of them have been super cool in replying to my emails and even calling me directly. This is one of my favorites, I’m addicted to this song. And the fact that ice skating is in the video just makes it that more awesome.

usability analogy

hehe. I found this excerpt from the lecture in my usability class amusing, and oh so true:

“Unfortunately, much of the Web is like an anthill built by ants on LSD….”

awesome new movie alert

Across The Universe

An original musical film, Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, the killing fields of Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and painted and three-dimensional animation, the film is paired with many Beatles songs that defined the time.

It’s a definite must see on Emma’s list. I showed it to Nic, and he called me a goddamn hippy. Can’t help it. It looks like Baz Luhrmann movie. :)
