Today is the big 23. Weird. I remember being 14 and thinking that I would never grow up. Never. And then I was graduating high school before I knew it, and my 21st was just yesterday… Life goes by so fast – all the beauty and sadness swirling together making it sometimes hard to catch my breath.

Just for kicks, here’s 23 random facts about me for all to see.

1. I couldn’t live without my sketchbook and my journal.
2. My favorite song is Tiny Dancer by Elton John.
3. I have a horrible memory.
4. I hate The Wizard of Oz.
5. I’ve seen ghosts on multiple occasions.
6. When I see a photo booth, I’m overwhelmed with the need to take a photo.
7. I have to have ChapStick with me at all times in order to maintain my sanity.
8. I love the sound of snow.
9. I can’t wink. nope. not even close.
10. I thought I was allergic to milk until I was 21.
11. I believe that I am an anachronism.
12. My favorite color is phthalocyanine blue.
13. I was clinically dead for 47 seconds when I was 16.
14. I have unrealistic romantic views on life, yet find the most beauty in the life’s imperfections.
15. I have no respect for those that think owning a Thomas Kinkade painting qualifies them as an art enthusiast.
16. I always wish on shooting stars.
17. My sweet 16 party consisted of my friends and I playing chess and win, loose, or draw.
18. I am claustrophobic.
19. I can wiggle my left ear. only the left ear.
20. I’ve ran through a fire.
21. I love putting honey on french fries and Chinese food.
22. My favorite film is in French.
23. I love to write, even though I skip words quite frequently when doing so.

Here’s a graphic I made to glue onto one of my journal entries. Paper cement and I have became good friends as of late.

I should note that the graphic is called November because the lyrics are from a Azure Ray song with the same name. Good song. Anyway, it perfectly describes how I felt after I split with my ex. Click it for the full version.

Kat McLeod is one of my fave illustrators. She does work for several different publications available in Australia. It’s similar to the Daily Candy style. I love the mixed media elements below. I need to do some pieces like this… though it’s been about 6 years since I’ve touched watercolors.
