graduation

So Im back home again only to leave in a couple days. I went to Pittsburgh to the graduation ceremony. I showed my work at the portfolio review with just under 200 other students. After an extremely stressful day of running around and getting everything set up to display, I ended up winning best in show for interactive media design. :)

I also got offered jobs with 7 different companies, that was the only bad part of showing was having to talk to the employers and say that I wasn’t interested in a full time position because I own my company. It was slightly awkward considering the whole point of showing at portfolio review is to get a job; I just wanted to be in running to get the cool award. :)

After the graduation ceremony, I went out for dinner and drinks with the best teacher Ive ever had (Sharon) and a couple of my classmates Christina and Ryan. We stayed out to the wee hours of the morning just talking about the industry, art, life, future plans, our fave television shows, and just everything under the sun. It was amazing. I love those people, and I will miss having classes with them. Well all stay in touch though.

We did a bit of site seeing in Pittsburgh as well, which involved the Warhol Museum, and then we went from there to Andrew Lloyd Wrights famous architectural masterpiece Falling Water. From there we drove over to Philadelphia, where I ran up the infamous Rocky stairs, saw Van Goghs Sunflowers painting, shopped the beautiful 4 story Anthropologie store, saw the Liberty Bell, and checked out Independence Hall. It was an awesome trip.

Back to graduation though You know how when you turn another year older, you expect to feel different, but then you never do? Well after graduation I actually felt different. I guess it’s hard not too. I move out later today. Ill have my own place up in Atlanta, which still doesnt seem real. After graduation it just all hit me. I’m on my own now. It’s weird.
