26.

I’m 26.

OMFG.

I swore I would never use that sort of abbrevation. But I also swore I’d never be 26. So this seems mildly appropiate. In old school I’m-23-and-not-rounding-up-to-30-style, I’ve completed another one of my lists containing 26 glorious facts you may or may not know about me. If you’re looking for 49 of those thought provoking and intriguing facts - you can refer to this post for the other 23.

  • 1. I’m incredibly loyal.
  • 2. I’ve started making jewelry - simple pieces - but this time next year I expect to be sodering my own pieces and already have the sodering kit picked out.
  • 3. I’ve been put to sleep 4 times in my life for surgeries. Each of those times I don’t remember counting below 7.
  • 4. People Magazine named one of sites as the best television series website in 2005 - Hurricane Katrina claimed my story as victim with an entire issue devoted to her own destruction.
  • 5. I like guys who can be assholes as long as they aren’t assholes to me and they also know how to be hopeless romantics. A difficult combination to find.
  • 6. Jenny is my bestest friend in the world - and I met her at a camp I was bribed into attending.
  • 7. I have to shower every morning.
  • 8. I believe in the existence of the supernatural.
  • 9. If I wasn’t able to design, I would feel completely suffocated.
  • 10. I fully intend on facing my fears of falling and smashing into the ground within the next year - by jumping out of plane… attached to someone who completely knows what they’re doing.
  • 11. I kick ass at Settlers, Boggle, Monopoly… at Halo 1.
  • 12. I’m at my happiest while staring up the stars on a clear night miles and miles away from civilization.
  • 13. I’m at my 2nd happiest while coding, listening to techno music, and sipping a little whiskey in coke.
  • 14. I met the 6th man to walk on the moon and had dinner with him.
  • 15. I have horrible short term memory.
  • 16. My favorite place on earth is the desert.
  • 17. I love the packaging design of the swag I get more than the actual swag.
  • 18. If I’m shy and reserved around you - you don’t know me at all. If I’m partially shy and reserved - you probably know me even less.
  • 19. Josh Holloway is the most beautiful man on earth in my humble and completely accurate opinion.
  • 20. I have countless theories about the meaning of: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42.
  • 21. I’m a fan of capitalism.
  • 22. I cook a mean fried zucchinni.
  • 23. I love my family immensely.
  • 24. I hate yellow… and gold things… unless it’s first place metals. Those I like.
  • 25. I have horrible short term memory.
  • 26. I watch far too much television - but I completely love it and see it as an exciting form of escapism - to live a life completely different than my own for a short period of time - I love the combination of art and storytelling.

So, yes. 26 years today. Just as I’ve always done - I’ll wake up at the time of my birth. Quiet not to awake those around me as a weird feeling overcomes me. The realization that I’ve reached an age that at 14 I thought would never come. For years I used to play an audio card that my grandfather gave me that played “Happy Birthday”. But since my relocation of residences a couple times over - the card is lost - and all that plays in its place is a memory of all those special October 8th’s before.

So in summarization - thank you to all of you - family and friends alike that have been there for me and just been amazing. I love you guys!!!! :-)

The teenage girl inside me insisted that I document this. Viggo - you’re now #2. We’ll see if Josh Holloway holds my affections for the next 10 years …

I figured posting this here was the quickest way of circulating this to all of you! :) It’s pretty rad.

It’s a year old… and if you’ve seen this before and not sent it to me … then thanks. Thanks a lot.

after party.

The Mizzae Spring Show was definitely a hit. I’ll post pictures of the actual show soon as soon as they surface online. I didn’t even think about taking any during it since I only had my little camera and the lighting would have made decent pics with that camera impossible.

Here’s some from the after party events though:

apparently there are many more of me now.

So I have known that my names Emily and Emma have been popular for quite sometime. What I didn’t know was to the extent that they were popular. When I was born in ‘83, neither Emily nor Emma were in the top 100 names. My name was pretty unique at the time. In fact the top names were the ones that you had 4 of in every class you had from elementary through high school:

Jennifer
Jessica
Amanda
Ashley
Sarah

But what is most disturbing is the popularity of my name since the year 1993. The http://www.ssa.gov just released 2008’s most popular names which brought my attention to this series of uncreative parental choices.

Does anyone else notice that the only names that gave mine competition were that of characters names from Grey’s Anatomy?

I’m not happy with the masses naming their kids Emily and Emma. I quite enjoyed the fact that I never met others with my name.

Argh.

early birthday.

I know you guys are already thinking about my birthday and trying to figure out what to get me right? Well. Let help you.

adobe-pillows

Aren’t they awesome?! I’m anti-Dreamweaver so I’m not interested in that. But I’m all about the Photoshop and In Design love. Those are my programs. Flash…. I’m ‘growing’ to love.

Hand-made plush objects created in the images of the programs I use every day… It’s like ThinkGeek toys for designers. Awesomeness.

stormy.

I love this weather. More specifically I love that I can go out on the balcony and photography approaching storms. I got some amazing shots tonight. You could see amazing lightning for nearly 3 hours. Here’s a taste of what’s to come!
