So I’m now officially a student of the Academy of Art University in the Computer Arts New Media MFA program. Saying that I’m stoked I got in is a bit of an understatement. They’ve hooked me up with scholarships, opted me out of classes, and been just freaking awesome. The school has an incredible reputation as well. My friend at New Line Cinema was telling me how the Academy and RISD are the top two art schools in their opinion when it comes to job hiring, so I’m extremely excited about starting classes next Monday. From my understanding, my thesis will be a huge web project and not a written project, which I’m stoked about, and I already know what I’m doing for it. The school gives me 6 classes to take in whatever field I want to take to help with the project as well, so I’ll be able to take some graphic design courses, some fashion illustration courses (yes, I do need this for my project), and some digital photography courses as well. They also have a brief study abroad program that lasts 3 weeks where you can go museum hoping around Europe. I’m definitely going to be looking at this, as I’d love to do a study abroad program even if it’s only 3 weeks. And not to mention, art museums and I go together like wine and cheese.
Here’s my current class schedule. I’m considering switching out the audio class though for an art history class that’s required. I still have to talk with my advisor some more about the work load, because I’m going to have a lot of web work to do in Feb, and I don’t want to be pulling my hair out.
