new years 2009.

Good times. :) There’s a couple more on facebook!

Andy and I made the paper up here. :) The two images are below.
Along with children, there were parents, grandparents and couples. Andrew Kerr, 24, and Emma Loggins, 25, were making slow loops around center of the rink. They had no trouble identifying the better skater.
“Emma is world-class, and I can barely keep myself upright,” Kerr said.
Loggins, who learned to skate in Atlanta, has competed in figure skating before and said she plans to do it again. As for advice, she suggested tying on skates tightly, keeping laces from dragging on the ice and “If you fall, don’t put your hands out.”
That’s to avoid skate blades, she said.
I went down to Brunswick for the 4th to hang out with Jenny. We ended up laying on the beach on Jekyll watching fireworks Friday night with her parents, her brother and his gf. It was a great show.
We spent the rest of the weekend back and forth from St. Simons, the house, the bookstore, and the movie theater. (btw- Hancock isn’t that bad… at least not as bad as I thought it would be.) Here’s the photos from the weekend:

Jenny documented our little cookout. Here’s a couple highlights..

So it’s now officially 2008. Which is just crazy.
I finally got to experience the peach drop, though by the time we walked from my apartment to Marta at 14 street and actually got down to underground they had the whole area blocked off and we had to walk down an additional 3 blocks to be somewhere where we could actually stand. We all watched the coke clock…. which was off.
We had a pretty awesome night though. Todd, Alexandra, and Nic came over to hang with Andy and I earlier in the day. We watched the Tech game and then Nic, Brad, Andy, and I met up with Sara and Joe and had pizza. We arrived back at my apartment at which time Andy’s sister Caitlyn joined us along with her friend Aaron.
Once everyone had arrived our liquor collection grew quite by rather impressive leaps and bonds.

We played Taboo, talked, consumed the above drinks, took pics….

I told Joe to do his “epic” look. It took him a little while :)

This was I think the only picture of Sara and I from that night where my skin is not actually glowing…

Here’s some of us downtown, Andy’s hat made it in the top of the picture.

See? The peach has dropped, the fireworks are going off, and the clock says 11:58. Of all times for your clock to be wrong…

Andy and Caitlyn.

I was pretty impressed with Caitlyn’s friend and her ability to walk the entire evening in heels. Not a chance I could ever do that. I wore my sneakers and I’m still hobbling around like a cripple days later.

Cuteness.

We managed to talk the anti-social Josh into coming over. Jen came with and made me feel slightly better about my non-existent singing abilities.

I dedicated a song to Andy…

Nic and I… both so pale that we are likely to blind people.

We have angst.

And that picture pretty much sums up our evening.
It was a good night. The company was awesome, the Marta experience… well you guys all know my story… and ending the night playing Halo…. good times, good times.
Merry Christmas!
So today was pretty cool. I couldn’t help but keep thinking about how all the rain would be snow if it was like 15 degrees colder. I’m going to have move north for my white Christmas. one day. one day…
Anywho, I got to see the fam today. That was exciting as always. I absolutely love it when my little cousin Ruby uses words like “peculiar”. Both Ruby and Tony are precocious children and as my grandmother puts it “exuberant”. If only I could bottle their energy….

They’re adorable, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing space ship with them, even though all their Star Wars references meant nothing to me. Perhaps I should see those movies, so I can more comfortably fit in with the sci-fi nerd crowd. I mean if I go to Comic Con next year for work and I haven’t seen these movies… I’m afraid they may throw comics at me or something. I don’t know… It’s something I shall look into.
We had lunch at the Sun Dial restaurant at 12:30 today…. it’s now 9:14 and I’m still stuffed… I mention this because they had a huge HUGE gingerbread house in the lobby of the Westin. I was tempted, but I refrained.

My parents seemed to like their gifts that I got them. I’m always worried with my dad’s present after the re-gifting tie incident of ‘91, he loved his though and my mom really loved the stuff animal I made her so this year was a success.

Note to self- seriously weigh the options next year… making stuff animals… cute… but painful, time consuming, and involves blood loss…. (another not to self- don’t stick the pins in the pillow on the couch while sewing… could end badly when you forget where you put them.)
And since I know you’re dying to see the little guys I made, here’s the one I made for Andy’s mom. He’s skeptical. :)

Adorable, right? :)
Friday night was the big block party. Good times were had. Everyone wanted their picture with Andy and I…. I especially loved the people that tried to talk about the books with us, considering neither one of us have read them. Andy managed to change someone’s opinion that had read the books. That was rather amusing. :)

We acted out scenes from the internet pictures.

Agnes was a pirate. I relabeled her the 80’s pirate.

Andy making up spells.

The foreign girls.

The really pathetic guy trying to empress the foreign girls with his knowledge of Swedish…. ya?

We ran into June.

Harry. Hermione. Ron gone bad.

“Soooo American”

Sara came to the rescue.

Roman homeboy Joe with Harry.

Sara was extremely stoked to meet Harry and Hermione. But you really can’t blame her. :)

Jane and Tarzan.

Jane and I.

We tracked down Ron… Though he acquired his robe through Ebay, so we’re actually not sure how legit he is.

Here’s 3 of us, that’s one more person than there was houses taking part in the block party. I felt the need to keep pointing that out throughout the evening.

Facebook promised 6 houses. Not 2….. I still awarded him most creative costume.
It was an awesome night.
Saturday Alexandra and Todd took me to lunch and then I did some head shots of her, those were awesome and I’ll upload some here tomorrow. She looked beautiful.
Saturday night, Andy, Nic, Joe, Sara, Sara’s mom, and myself attended the Stars concert. That was pretty awesome. We ran into Evan there which was funny because I was actually the person who first told him about Stars back last April. The concert was awesome, the lead singer was pretty trashed which was entertaining for the audience to watch. Towards the end he started twirling the mic cord and the mic was swinging pretty far out. I turned to Andy and Nic and said “this never ends well.” A moment thereafter, the bass player was hit in the chest with the mic only after it narrowly missed his head on the last go around.

They threw out flowers to the crowd throughout the show, which I was determined to get. I did. Evan grabbed it to, breaking off most of the flowers…. *makes a note not tell Evan of other cool bands*. lol :)

The later activities that took place on Saturday evening were mostly humorous and entirely secret. :)
