post surgery.

As most of you have heard by now… Roxy had surgery on Monday. She’s had this bump on her side for quite sometime. I took her to the vet about in May when it first showed up and they told me it was nothing to worry about. It got really big last week, then shrank back down again, so I figured I’d take her to be sure everything was still alright since another bump was appearing as well. The vet checked out the first one and said it was benign. He checked the second one, the one that has been there since May and told me it was a mass cell tumor which was releasing histamine into her system. They said it needed to be removed asap, and then told me they had time to do it that afternoon. I sat there in shock as I was expecting them to tell me that it was nothing just like they did in May.

I left Roxy for the surgery and went into worry/freak out mode for the rest of the day until they called me to tell me everything had gone fine. They sent the tumor off to the lab to find out the grade and to see if they got all of it. Keep your fingers crossed.

I picked her up today. The surgery didn’t slow her down at all. She’s been wanting to run and jump all day. I’ve had to keep her in my lap or in the crate to prevent this. When she tries to stretch she makes this sad little whimpering noise and then looks back at the staples and then at me… like she’s asking me why it hurts and if I’ll make it better. It breaks my heart. :( She has staples in her belly and stitches under that. They have to stay in for 2 weeks, and then even after that she can’t jump for another 1 to 2 weeks. You all know Roxy pretty well, so you know the challenge that this is going to be.

I took a picture of the staples with my phone. It’s a little intense so beware. – View Here

I’m so glad I took her back though, and I just hope that we got this in plently of time.

merry christmas.

Merry Christmas!

So today was pretty cool. I couldn’t help but keep thinking about how all the rain would be snow if it was like 15 degrees colder. I’m going to have move north for my white Christmas. one day. one day…

Anywho, I got to see the fam today. That was exciting as always. I absolutely love it when my little cousin Ruby uses words like “peculiar”. Both Ruby and Tony are precocious children and as my grandmother puts it “exuberant”. If only I could bottle their energy….

They’re adorable, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing space ship with them, even though all their Star Wars references meant nothing to me. Perhaps I should see those movies, so I can more comfortably fit in with the sci-fi nerd crowd. I mean if I go to Comic Con next year for work and I haven’t seen these movies… I’m afraid they may throw comics at me or something. I don’t know… It’s something I shall look into.

We had lunch at the Sun Dial restaurant at 12:30 today…. it’s now 9:14 and I’m still stuffed… I mention this because they had a huge HUGE gingerbread house in the lobby of the Westin. I was tempted, but I refrained.

My parents seemed to like their gifts that I got them. I’m always worried with my dad’s present after the re-gifting tie incident of ‘91, he loved his though and my mom really loved the stuff animal I made her so this year was a success.

cimg0285.jpg

Note to self- seriously weigh the options next year… making stuff animals… cute… but painful, time consuming, and involves blood loss…. (another not to self- don’t stick the pins in the pillow on the couch while sewing… could end badly when you forget where you put them.)

And since I know you’re dying to see the little guys I made, here’s the one I made for Andy’s mom. He’s skeptical. :)

Adorable, right? :)

awesome weekend

Well the holiday weekend has finally come to a close, and I must say I’ve had a splendid time with my last weekend before school starts back. Friday night, the crew hung out, got some Mexican food, and played Mario Kart on the Game Cube. Saturday, Andy, Agnes, Sara, Joe, my parents, and myself went up to the Duluth rink to watch some of the skating competition and skate the public session. It made me miss my old skating competition days. It was the first time I had skated since last February, so needless to say I was more than thrilled. I miss skating so much… I can’t put it into words. I had a few minutes where it was just me on the ice, and it was like the old days with the Morrow rink…. just me and my ipod. I skated so hard in the first 15 minutes that my lungs were burning. That was a rather unpleasant feeling.

I should note that all of my friends are exceptionally good at ice skating. They all have great balance, even Andy who made considerable progress since last November’s outing which involved him saying that he hated the sport and never wanted to do it again. Now he actually wants to go back in the near future. And I should also note that his trademark “swan” move was quite lovely… or entertaining. However you want to classify it. :) We also saw Rob there, he’s a pretty cool guy, he is in the Georgia Figure Skating Club, and he was on the skating board with my dad for awhile. He does a little pair skating, and showed me a beginner’s pair move… since you know I have trust issues when it comes to other people holding me on the ice. :) It was really cool…. I felt like I was flying, and later, I found myself cursing that I am about 9 inches too tall to be a pair skater. After that, we all went our separate ways, Andy and Agnes came back to my place and we hung out for a bit before Josh, Jen, Sara, Joe, and Todd came over. We all ordered pizza and watched Hot Fuzz. After that we played some Halo, and then went upstairs to my neighbor’s party. I can now say I know someone in my complex, we’re still just acquaintances, but it’s cool none-the-less. I was most entertained by seeing an apartment with a floor plan that was the exact opposite of mine. Sunday, Andy and I were productive and coded literally the whole day minus the hour we played Halo and Boggle that night. And today was much the same. Good times. Good times. :)

Here’s some pics and a video from the skating outing including my awesome pair skating with Rob. I think I’m going to try to seriously start going at least once every two weeks, though once a week would be nice. I could go up and skate a morning session at the Kennesaw rink and have lunch with Sara or something…. Sara you should make sure I do that. :)

joshua.

He arrived Friday afternoon. I was in the room during the birth, which was a rather interesting event… Birth is just not at all like I thought it would be to say the least, but that’s another story. :) I went back up to the hospital today to visit with Andy and Jenny, none of us have really had experience with newborns, so we, and by we I mean mostly I, asked a lot of questions while Andy inspected the baby’s head in a seemingly scientific manner. Jenny even held him too. :) It was a rather fun outing. My favorite moments were when I was holding him and he smiled at me, and then when Andy was holding him, Joshua then made a couple noises and one of “those” faces, and then Andy proceeded to hand the baby back to Amanda’s mom while saying “And I think we’re done here.” :)
Here’s a couple pics.

My godson will be born today. :)

Keep Amanda and the baby in your thoughts!

cousins

I met up with my uncle and my little cousins at Piedmont Park today. It was great to see them again and have some bonding time with them. I hadn’t seen them since Christmas. They’re absolutely adorable. :) We spent some time on the swings, played tag, and raced around. Andy stopped by for a bit as well and met everyone. The kids appeared to really enjoy his company. They were all hanging off of him. :) It was really great to see them again though, I love spending time with the fam. It’s good times.

Here’s some pics from the day’s excursion.

amanda’s baby

Amanda visited tonight and brought with her the tape of the baby. Sara, Alexandra, and myself all watched it. It was about 10 minutes solid of us saying:

“I don’t see it”

“Aw!”

“What’s that?”

“Aw!”

“Aw!”

“Aw!”

You get the point. :) I was so excited to finally see the video of my godson…. I still can’t believe Amanda is 6 months along. It still seems so crazy. :)

little person

Here’s the first picture of my godson. It’s the only picture out of 5 where I can actually find the baby. hehe :)

It’s official. As of this July, I will have a godson. :) I’m incredibly stoked. Amanda called me around 4:30 to tell me the gender. I still can’t believe she’s having a kid. I still remember what huge dorks we were at the Backstreet Boys concert back in 8th grade. :) The picture above is from our junior year.

roxy

I thought I’d post that she’s all better. Though most of you know that already. :)
